1648 brewing - The 1648 Brewery occupies a portion of The King’s Head pub in the East Sussex village of East Hoathly. The co-owners, David Seabrook and Robert Wallace (Landlord of The King’s Head) decided to set up the brewery after a chance conversation one March day in 2002.

Brains - If Samuel Arthur Brain was around today he’d be proud to see that the company he founded in 1882 is now ‘Wales’ Leading Drinks & Hospitality Company’. He bought The Old Brewery, founded 1713, with his uncle Joseph Benjamin Brain and the company has remained in the family ever since. In 1997 S.A.Brain & Co Ltd acquired South Wales’ other leading independent brewery Crown Buckley, giving the current company a combined tradition of brewing excellence amounting to over 600 years.

Brakspear Beers - Wychwood Brewery took on the brewing of Brakspear Beers in October 2002, following the closure of Brakspear’s Henley brewery. Due to lack of spare capacity at the brewery in Witney, initially only the Brakspear seasonal ales could be brewed here and so we asked the Burtonwood Brewery in Cheshire to brew the main beers, Bitter and Special.

Bushys - The Isle of Man was fairly unusual in that it had (similar to Germany) it's own beer purity laws , which -unlike Germany -date back to 1874. The law forbade the use of any supplement to malted barley, hops, sugar, water and brewers' yeast. Sadly, the Manx Government repealed the act in 1999.
